- Breaker selection: any standard size that protects the conductor and does not exceed 40 A MOCP.
- Conductor selection: usable ampacity at least 22 A under the installed conditions.
- Verify the chosen breaker/conductor pair in the compatibility calculator.
- Update the panel schedule and disconnect labeling to the new nameplate values.
Starting point: breaker ≤ 40 A MOCP with conductor ≥ 22 A MCA. Without those two numbers, stop and read the nameplate.
